A Big Thank You!

Tuesday 29th May 2018

For all of you that have been to the park to visit loved ones, attend a service of any kind, or even just popped in to one of our coffee mornings, you may, or may not know that we have been raising funds for a defibrillator through The Oliver King Foundation. This is an amazing charity with a great cause, from an inspiring family who have managed to turn their grief into something remarkable!

For those who don know about the foundation, Oliver King was a 12-year-old boy who attended King David High School in Liverpool.  Whilst winning a swimming race in a PE lesson he tragically suffered a sudden cardiac arrest due to a condition known as Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome. This condition kills 12 young people under the age of 35 every single week in the UK. Sadly there was no lifesaving defibrillator on hand, and for every minute that passed his chances of survival dropped significantly.

The Oliver King Foundation exists to ensure that no other family has to suffer a similar loss to that of the Kings.

The charities aim is to:

  • Significantly increase the provision of lifesaving defibrillators across the United Kingdom
  • Campaign for and secure legislation that will ensure every school in the UK has access to a lifesaving defibrillator
  • Provide ECG tests for young people in the community
  • Raise awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest and how lives can be saved

We would like to say thank you to the King’s and their team for all their hard work, and a Massive thank you to everyone who has donated here at the park so far! With your generosity we are only £120 from our fundraising total, so Please keep Up the good work!
