Northern Marsh Orchid

Flowering late May to late July, the Northern Marsh Orchid is found in the North of England, Scotland and Wales. It thrives in grassland, ferns and can be found at Greenacres Rainford in our orchard and swale. Due to its colouring, it is suspected it has hybridised with a species of spotted orchid. Like many orchids this species has particular requirements, living on the edge of the woodland, borders of the orchard and the swale.

Fun fact: In addition to the Marsh Orchid, we have several Pyramidal Orchids along the woodland edge.
